Hirono Blind Boxes Complete Guide (Series 1–9 & Collaborations)

Hirono Blind Boxes Complete Guide (Series 1–9 & Collaborations)

Introduction

Hirono is one of POP MART’s most unique and emotionally rich blind box characters. Designed by Chinese artist Lang (浪), Hirono embodies themes of loneliness, resilience, forgiveness, and daydreams. Each series tells a story, making Hirono more than just a collectible toy — it’s a piece of modern art.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through all Hirono blind box series (1–9) and collaborations, highlight rare hidden editions, provide price insights, and share collector tips. Whether you’re a new fan or a long-time collector, this is your ultimate Hirono resource.

Who Is Hirono?

Hirono stands apart from other POP MART IPs like Molly, Skullpanda, or Labubu. While many blind box figures focus on cuteness, Hirono’s designs dive deep into emotional storytelling — exploring solitude, hope, dreams, and forgiveness. This emotional depth has made Hirono one of the most respected collectible art toys worldwide.

What Are Hirono Blind Boxes?

Blind boxes are sealed packages where buyers don’t know which design they’ll get until opening. Typically:

  • Each series includes 12 regular figures + 1 hidden figure.
  • Hidden editions usually have a rarity of 1/72 or 1/144.
  • Retail price: around $12–15 USD per box or $140–160 USD for a case.

Series 1 — Hirono: The Other One

Theme & Design Inspiration:
This was the very first Hirono blind box series. It embodies the concept of “the other self”, a reflection of inner loneliness and emotional struggle. Inspired by comic-style emo aesthetics, Hirono here appears darker and more introspective — a bold departure from POP MART’s usually cute figures.

Release Info: Oct. 01, 2021., as the debut of Hirono under POP MART.

Notable Figures & Weights:

  • Cuckoo — ~79.8g, light with obvious rattle.
  • Raving — ~81.3g, topless feel when shaken.
  • The Monster — ~83.9g, compact inside, minor movement.
  • Being Alive — ~87.5g, weight concentrated at the bottom.
  • Nowhere Safe — ~90.8g, very stable, full feel.

Weight & Box Feel Tips:

  • Look for boxes that feel dense but with slight rattle for Nowhere Safe.

Hidden Figure: Wishing Ghost (1/144) — highly coveted, extremely low odds.

Series 2 — Hirono: Little Mischief

Theme & Design Inspiration:
This series was POP MART’s first “emotional blind box”, themed around playfulness, rebellion, and mischievous behavior. Each figure reflects Hirono’s inner struggles but in a more playful and retro style. The packaging used a distressed, vintage-paper design, giving collectors the feeling of flipping through a rebellious sketchbook.

Series 8 — Hirono × CLOT

Theme & Design Inspiration:
The Hirono × CLOT collaboration merges POP MART’s emotional storytelling with Edison Chen’s fashion brand CLOT, blending Hirono’s introspective world with rich Chinese cultural motifs — terracotta warriors, kung fu, silk, yin-yang, and thorn elements. Each design captures the tension between tradition and modernity, softness and strength.

Release Info: December 13, 2024.

Notable Figures & Box Feel Guide:

  • Kung Fu – ~75g. The lightest figure in the set. Comes with a plastic inner shell that gently moves when shaken. You’ll hear faint tapping sounds from the shell touching the box, not a hard thump. All six sides feel loose but not hollow.
  • Terracotta Warrior – ~78g. Spacious on all sides with a clear “box-slam” sound. Top and bottom have more room, while the sides feel slightly airy.
  • Ning Ning (Hidden) – ~81.5g. The only figure with accessories inside. Feels full on all sides but produces clear knocking sounds from the accessory, especially when shaken up and down. The accessory is diagonally placed, so the sound may vary depending on position. Some cases may be semi-transparent (“open box”) editions.
  • Yin-Yang – ~88g. Tight and well-packed. Only the desiccant moves slightly inside. Because of the tall hairpin protected by foam, the top part feels slightly arched and full.
  • Silk – ~89g. The large hat completely fills the box. No space at all — totally immovable.
  • Thorn – ~93g. Feels diagonally placed inside. Slight side movement without slamming; top and bottom are completely full. Almost no free space.

Weight & Box Feel Tips:

  • Very light (~75–78g): Kung Fu or Terracotta.
  • Medium (~88–90g): Yin-Yang or Silk.
  • Heavier (~93g): Thorn.

Hidden Figure: Ning Ning (1/144).

Each figure showcases CLOT’s signature style — combining cultural symbolism with sleek, modern minimalism — making this collaboration a must-have for both Hirono and street fashion collectors alike.

Series 9 — Hirono: Echo

Theme & Design Inspiration:
The Hirono: Echo series delves into themes of reflection, memory, and rediscovery. Each design captures fragments of dreams and emotions, showing Hirono surrounded by protective shells or floating in surreal, meditative poses. The entire collection symbolizes how people reconnect with forgotten parts of themselves through echoes of the past.

Release Info: April 11th, 2025

Notable Figures & Weights:

  • Soul Connection – ~118.8g. The heaviest figure in the series. No movement when shaken; fully packed on all four sides; desiccant sound clearly audible.
  • Staying Up – ~113.5g. Heavy with noticeable internal structure; slight vertical space and firm mid-lower tapping sound when shaken.
  • Journey in the Rain – ~104.5g. Top and bottom are tight, but side-to-side movement is clear; balanced overall feel.
  • Breakout Plan – ~102.3g. Front and back space is more noticeable than the sides; strong card-rubbing sound inside.

Weight & Box Feel Tips:

  • Light (~91–93g): Reluctant to Wake (Hidden) — smaller internal structure, minimal accessories.
  • Medium (~102–105g): Breakout Plan or Journey in the Rain — slight looseness and gentle side movement.
  • Heavy (~113–119g): Staying Up or Soul Connection — completely filled, solid and stable.

Hidden Figure: Never Growing Up (1/144).

Never Growing Up – ~91.8g (1/144). Much lighter than the regular figures. Extremely tight vertically, with only slight side movement near the “3 years” marking. A distinct friction sound can be heard when shaking front to back.

💡 Collector’s Insight:
The difference in weight among the figures mainly comes from internal construction — heavier designs like Soul Connection include more intricate accessories and structural density, while the hidden edition is notably lighter due to fewer internal parts.
